Palladium(II) acetate (CAS 3375-31-3; Pd(OAc)2, empirical formula C4H6O4Pd; formula-unit molar mass 224.50 g/mol) is a palladium(II) carboxylate supplied as a red-brown solid. Its molecular or solid-state association may be oligomeric, commonly described as a cyclic trimer, so formula-unit mass should not be confused with the mass of an associated species. Confirm identity, assay, and physical specification against supplier documentation for the specific grade.

It is chiefly valued as a soluble palladium source and precatalyst in chemical synthesis. With appropriate reaction conditions and ligands, it can support palladium-catalyzed carbon–carbon and carbon–heteroatom coupling, C–H functionalization, and selected oxidation chemistry; it is also used as a starting material for palladium complexes, particles, and deposited materials. These are chemical synthesis, catalyst-development, and materials-research applications, not a claim of approval as a medicine, pesticide, or consumer product. Handle as a hazardous palladium compound under the applicable safety data sheet and institutional controls, avoiding exposure and environmental release.

– Catalyst precursor for palladium-mediated carbon–carbon and carbon–heteroatom bond formation, including Heck, Suzuki–Miyaura, and Buchwald–Hartwig coupling systems. It is a starting palladium source rather than a guarantee of catalytic performance; suitability depends on the ligand, substrate, grade, and intended process. Applications include research and chemical synthesis, not an assertion of approved end-product use.

– Used in catalyst research involving C–H bond functionalization and related direct transformations. It can supply palladium for developing or studying catalytic systems in organic synthesis, including research relevant to pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates. This describes synthesis research only and does not imply that palladium acetate or resulting products are approved for therapeutic or agricultural use.

– Employed as a palladium source in selected oxidation chemistry, including Wacker-type alkene oxidation and other oxidative transformations described in chemical literature. The role may be catalytic or reagent-like depending on the system; do not assume a universal process or performance without application-specific validation.
