Melamine Cyanurate
Melamine Cyanurate (CAS: 37640-57-6), commonly called MCA, is a halogen-free nitrogen flame retardant supplied as a white fine powder. It is a widely used flame retardant for nylon 6 and nylon 66 formulations, where it promotes char formation and controlled dripping; the achieved classification depends on the formulation and test conditions. It is also used in thermoset resins, coatings, and lubricant applications. The product is thermally stable, low in smoke generation, and compatible with standard compounding processes. Customers select it where halogen-free flame retardancy in polyamide systems is required.
• Halogen-free flame retardant: nitrogen-based MCA for polyamide and other resin systems.
• Nylon 6/66: used in selected glass-filled and unfilled nylon formulations; the achieved UL 94 classification depends on formulation and test conditions.
• E&E applications: used in electrical connectors, plugs, and components requiring flame safety.
• Processing: thermally stable, low-smoke powder compatible with standard compounding.
