Polymethylhydrosiloxane
Polymethylhydrosiloxane (CAS 63148-57-2), widely known as PMHS, is a linear methylhydrogen silicone polymer with the repeat structure (CH₃)₃SiO[(CH₃)HSiO]ₙSi(CH₃)₃. It is supplied as a colourless clear liquid of low to moderate viscosity. Because the composition is polymeric, molecular weight and formula are variable; specifications rely on viscosity and hydride content.
• Reducing agent: selective reduction of aldehydes, ketones, esters and lactones.
• Silicone crosslinker: hydrosilylation cure of addition-cure elastomers and coatings.
• Water repellent and release: methyl-rich surfaces on fibres, textiles and paper.
• Synthesis support: reductive amination and radical hydrosilylation.
