4-tert-Butylphenol (CAS: 98-54-4) is a para-substituted alkylphenol supplied as white crystalline flakes with a mild phenolic odour.

The bulky tert-butyl group confers solubility, low volatility and resistance to oxidation, so the compound is a versatile platform for alkylphenol resins, phenolic antioxidants and UV-absorbing esters such as salicylates.

Commercial flake grade is 99% with low 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol content, packed in bags or drums.

• Phenolic resins: a modifier that improves solubility, flexibility and compatibility.

• Antioxidants and stabilisers: a feedstock for hindered phenol antioxidants and phosphites.

• UV absorbers: an intermediate for tert-butylphenyl salicylate type light stabilisers.

• Surfactants and lubricants: an alkylphenol building block for ethoxylates and ashless dispersants.
