Fluorescent Brightener 378 (CAS 40470-68-6) is a distyrylbiphenyl-type optical brightener with formula C₃₀H₂₆O₂ and MW 418.53. It absorbs UV light and emits blue fluorescence, masking yellowish tints and enhancing whiteness. It is stable against chlorine bleaching, acids, alkalis and oxygen-based washing agents.
