Fluorescent Brightener ER-II
Fluorescent Brightener ER-II is a cyano-substituted distyrylbenzene optical brightener, supplied as a pale yellow crystalline powder at 98% purity.
The stilbene-type conjugation absorbs in the ultraviolet and fluoresces blue, offsetting the yellowish tint of aged or thermally treated textiles, and the two cyano groups push the emission towards the violet-blue region for a cooler white. Its low sublimation tendency allows it to survive high-temperature dyeing and finishing.
The product should be stored dry and tightly closed, away from direct sunlight, heat and strong oxidising agents, to preserve its fluorescence yield.
• Polyester and acetate brightening: applied by high-temperature exhaust or thermosol processes to produce brilliant whites.
• Textile finishing: used in resin finishing baths and in optical whitening of blends containing synthetic fibres.
• Plastics and films: incorporated into polyester and PVC articles where a bluish-white appearance is required.
• Detergent and whitening formulations: added to laundering products for whiteness maintenance on synthetic fabrics.
