Octabenzone
Octabenzone (CAS: 1843-05-6), widely known as UV-531 or benzophenone-12, is a light yellow crystalline benzophenone ultraviolet absorber. It absorbs broad UV radiation and dissipates it harmlessly, protecting polymers and coatings from photo-degradation, yellowing, and loss of physical properties. It is used in polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, ABS, polycarbonate, PVC, polyester, and polyamide systems, and in coatings where low volatility and good compatibility are required. The product is supplied as a crystalline powder or flakes with good thermal stability for melt processing. Customers select it where long-term light stability of plastics and coatings is required.
