Pentaerythritol Tetra(3-mercaptopropionate)
Pentaerythritol Tetra(3-mercaptopropionate) (CAS: 7575-23-7), known as PETMP, is a tetrafunctional thiol supplied as a colourless to pale yellow clear liquid with a faint odour.
The four secondary thiols react rapidly with acrylates, vinyl and isocyanate groups, and the rigid pentaerythritol core gives cured networks high crosslink density together with good adhesion and flexibility.
Commercial grades are 95% or higher with low free acid, packed in 25 kg and 200 kg drums or IBC containers.
• UV-curable coatings: a thiol crosslinker that overcomes oxygen inhibition and improves cure speed.
• Optical and electronic adhesives: gives low-shrinkage, high-refractive-index bond lines for lenses and displays.
• Sealants and elastomers: builds flexible thiol-ene networks with good chemical resistance.
• Polymer modification: grafts thiol functionality onto resins for later reaction.
